CITY OF KENAI SENIOR CITIZENS DEPARTMENT:
"Helping people to age with dignity"
We strive to serve as a community focal point for senior services where adults 60+ come together for fellowship and program participation, to engage in opportunities for dignity and personal growth, to improve and enrich their quality of life, to support the needs of older individuals, to enhance their independence and to broaden their involvement within the community.
The philosophy of the senior center is based on the premise that aging is a normal developmental process; that human beings need peers with whom they can interact and who are available as a source of encouragement and support; and that senior adults have the right to voice in determining matters in which they have a vital interest.
The City of Kenai has furnished a wide
variety of services to the elderly on
the Central Peninsula since September
1971. Through a grant from the Department
of Senior and Disabilities Services the
Kenai Senior Center continues to provide
support services to their targeted population
of individuals 60 years of age and older.
