Parks & Recreation
Welcome to the City of Kenai's Parks & Recreation page!
Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for all citizens through parks, facilities, programs and community services. There are a variety of outdoor facilities and programs to meet your recreational needs, from skate boarding, disc golf, cross-country skiing, gardening, to ice skating and more.
Several organizations such as Little League Baseball, the Kenai Peninsula Softball Association, and the Kenai Peninsula Hockey Association are active seasonally and use City of Kenai facilities, which are maintained by the Parks & Recreation department. Many indoor recreation programs and activities are provided through a partnership venture between the City of Kenai and Boys & Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula. This arrangement meets the requirements for many recreation programs and conserves available dollars. For more information on indoor recreation programs, call the Kenai Recreation Center at 283-3855.
Looking for an area to gather and recreate? Kenai has 11 dedicated parks and much more, all totalling over 200 acres. Many of our park shelters are available for seasonal reservations see form below or check out or Parks page.
The Parks Department is responsible for the management and maintenance of all parks and open spaces. This includes, but is not limited to, turf and sport field maintenance, playground maintenance, trash removal, facility and trail maintenance, management of community volunteers, and stewardship of undeveloped open space. Looking for a volunteer opportunity? Contact the Parks & Recreation Department.
