OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

The Kenai Fire Department is dedicated to safeguarding the lives, property, and environment of our community through exceptional services in education, preparedness, prevention and response to emergency incidents.

The Kenai Fire Department is responsible for fire protection, emergency medical services, hazardous material response, and related emergencies within the Kenai City Limits and the Kenai Municipal Airport . The department is also responsible for non-emergency functions including fire investigations, code enforcement, fire inspections, and fire safety and injury prevention programs within the community.

In November of 2010 the department added three (3) additional firefighters to bring our staffing level to eighteen (18) uniformed personnel and one (1) administrative assistant. Members provide professional emergency services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the citizens of Kenai. In addition, the department provides airport firefighting services to the Kenai Municipal Airport . The airport station is staffed by one (1) person, seven (7) days a week and is there to meet FAA requirements for Part 139 flights.

The Kenai Fire Department's vehicle apparatus consists of three Class A structural fire engines, one 95' aerial platform, two aircraft rescue fire fighting vehicles, one squad truck, two fully equipped ALS ambulances, two staff vehicle and one Chief's command vehicle. Off road capabilities include a 4X4 Polaris Ranger and a rigid hull inflatable boat for river and salt water response.

The run volume for the department continues to climb by around 8% to 12% a year with July continually being our busiest month. This year (2011) the department's run volume is actually up 15% from August of the previous year. This can be attributed to many factors but must include the vast outdoor activities that the area brings, along with additional tourism and weekend visitors from other parts of the state.

Because of the department's high professional standards, the City of Kenai is currently rated ISO CLASS 3.

They are willing and able to think & be creative, and work independently in a direction related to our mission and vision.
